Poor Dan

Poor Dan had surgery on his shoulder on Monday. His appointment was for 10:30, but wasn't actually seen until around 3:00. Aren't doctors and hospitals wonderful! The MRI he had prior to his surgery showed a torn labrum and a lot of arthritis. Turns out, he not only had a torn labrum, but a torn rotator cuff as well. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be in the room when he woke up from the anesthesia. He said he didn't mind, but I did, and I wish that he did mind. Why don't men need us to hold their hands like we as women need our men to hold ours? Sometimes I wish Dan did "need" me more, but then I quickly change my mind when he has me change his ice bag at 3:30 in the morning:) He's been a pretty good patient...towards the end of the day though I'm tired of taking care of him; his meds, his bowel movements (he was really concerned he hadn't 'you know what' in two days), his pillows and blankets...don't I have enough people to worry about with that stuff ...atleast my other dependants go to bed at 8:) He's doing much better today, and even went to work for most of the day. It's been nice having him home, however it's hard b/c I feel like the kids and I can't do what we normally do. We're all excited for daddy to have his shoulder back - hopefully a new and improved one that will allow for fun tricks with Kailey and Owen and maybe even allow for a better snuggler for mommy at nite. Get better soon!

Okay Rhianna, he doesn't look as miserable as you told me he was. Maybe you should have twisted his arm first so we could really see him grimace. Did you really get him an ice pack at 3:30am? I can hear you saying something along the lines of..."Did you have surgery on your legs too?"

Tough guy Dan does need you more than he lets on....he would just never admit it!

Cute Rhianna, I sure enjoyed seeing my cute grandkids and Thank You also for taking care of "my little boy" especially his needs at 3:30 a.m. You're a great little Mommy!

Poor Dan...you will be blessed for being such a good wife. :) I don't know what I would do without Parley, he is amazing. I'm sure Dan appreciates you so much too! (but I know what you mean-I never have to take care Parley so when he gets hurt it's so different for me!)

Yes, hospitals are the best. My dad had surgery last month and they did the same thing to him (made him wait all day), it was lovely for all of us.

I know exactly what you mean about wanting them to feel like they need you more, but it is fine line, like you were saying. I am glad that you were able to take care of him though and even more that he is getting better. I bet you were a wonderful nurse!
